last night, i watched a movie from the Singapore Film Festival entitled A New Day In Old Sana'a.. just for those who dont know, Sana'a is where my heart is at.. its in yemen.. its home.. anyways... the story goes like this:


tariq is engaged to this girl, whos a daughter of a very well respected family.. shes rich and said to be the most beautiful girl in sanaa..it was an arranged marriage.. 2 nites before the beginnnin of their 3-day marriage ceremony, he sees a girl wearin the white dress he custom-made for his girl, and dancing in the middle of the night..and he thought it was the girl he was marrying cuz the dress was a prezzie from him to her....it turned out to be the girl who draws henna patterns for people and for the this bride.. the henna-girl,Ines, has been in love with tariq ever since she laid eyes on him..tariq begun to have second thoughts about his wedding after seeing the midnight dancer because it turned out that it wasnt his fiancee...

the next day, tariqs fiancee's mom makes a police report cuz they thought the dress was stolen.. and they ended up finding the dress at Ines place and she was accused of stealing the dress.. the real story ended up like this.... Tariqs fiancee threw the dress out of the window upon recieving her presents.. she thought the dress was so ugly and was meant for beggers to wear it.. and Ines, on her way home, saw the dress, twirled and danced with it and took it home...


anyways that night, tariq finds out Ines loves him from her grandmother and he ends up going to her house to tell her he loves her too and that he wants to runaway with her at midnight.. they were to meet at a bridge....a woman sees tariq at the girls doorstep and gossips.. the news goes everyone and eventually to the fiancee...that night, Ines decides to pack her stuff and go since there was nothing there for her, she had no parents and her grandma could take care of her younger bro, and what better way to live life than with the one true love of ur life....so she goes to the bridge at midnight but he never shows up... tariq decides that its wrong for him to runaway cuz his family name will be pulled down and he was from a very very respectful family.. so the girl waits and waits and waits, til day breaks, she goes back .. every night til the day she died, she came to the bridge til dawnbreak sayin that if he doesnt come today, he'll come tomorrow..


it was a painful movie... it was hilarious but painful...... oh well..... my mom wants to get the vcd from the directors so i guess if anyone wants to watch it, let me knowww... its GOOOOOD... and u could see my motherland!!! :P its gorgeous...
